Ex-student returns offering unique experience to learners

Daisy Winstanley, an ex-SGS student at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College is returning to pass on her knowledge to current learners with prestigious touring company MAPDANCE.

The 23 year old who studied a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Dance at SGS from 2010-2012, progressed from the College to a 3 year BA Hons Degree at Laban, the top school for contemporary dance in UK. Since graduating she has joined MAPDANCE a post-graduate professional performing company based at Chichester University.

Taking place this week, the touring company will hold workshops with various students at different levels.

Shelley Kenny Course Leader Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dance commented: “Daisy was a highly achieving and committed student who successfully completed her BTEC in Dance studies at SGS enabling her to progress to Laban, one of the top schools for dance training in the U.K. Daisy is now completing her post-graduate Master’s Degree studies with MAPDANCE, a professional touring dance performance company, based at Chichester University, working with renowned choreographers such as Lea Anderson and Shobana Jeyasingh. How exciting for our Level 3 and FdA dancers to be working and performing with Daisy and her company, giving them a practical and realistic insight into industry professional practices.”

After a day of practice the SGS dancers will then perform a ‘curtain raiser’ with the professional dancers at Olympus Theatre, WISE Campus on Wednesday 15 March 7.30pm.

This is a first for the College and the performance will be one to remember. It open to the public with tickets costing £10 available from:
