Along with learning on the job, successful candidates will be expected to attend college in Stroud on a day release one day a week.
CEO of Severn Vale Housing said: “This is a very exciting time for us and we are delighted to be working with the award-winning SGS to be able to deliver our apprenticeship scheme. The college has just come out on top in a national Employer Satisfaction Survey. It was voted the nation’s top employer facing college with an incredible 99.5% satisfaction rate.
“All the local colleges have been backing a media led Apprentice 1,000 campaign across the county this year. The aim is to recruit 1,000 apprenticeships. Our apprenticeship scheme will help take that campaign over the 1,000 mark.
“Working in partnership with SGS we will be able to provide some solid employment opportunities for young people and give them valuable on-the-job experience”.
College Principal Sara-Jane Watkins comments: “I am delighted with this new partnership and I look forward to supporting Severn Vale Housing with both their skills strategy in terms of apprentices joining their workforce but also for our involvement in providing training programmes for their existing tenants to help with their life chances and opportunities. As a College we have immense experience working with housing associations and have developed numerous schemes to support new entrants into this sector.”
