Are the West of England’s employers ready for the switchover to Apprenticeship Standards by 2020?
By 2020 the government will move from apprenticeship frameworks to standards. All current frameworks will be withdrawn by the 2020 to 2021 academic year and employers and providers are expected to have completed the transition by this date.
To bring clarity to the region’s employers, SGS College, in conjunction with Business West, City of Bath, City of Bristol, Weston College and UWE, are hosting the Employer Apprenticeship Conference, on Friday 15th February at SGS College’s WISE Campus in Stoke Gifford, Bristol.
The conference will address the three hottest topics within the current apprenticeship landscape:
> Is your organisation ready for the switchover to Apprenticeship Standards by 2020?
> How should we all be supporting the wellbeing of young apprentices, with regard to the epidemic in teenage mental health issues?
> Update on funding with the first employer levy funds due to expire in May 2019.
The Employer Apprenticeship Conference is open to employers of all sizes and will provide a variety of workshops to help people understand the changes. Workshops will be run by representatives from all event partners. All employer types will be catered for, including the public sector.
Principal of SGS College, Sara-Jane Watkins, comments:
“The switchover to standards is aimed at providing more flexibility to businesses so they can take full advantage of the benefits of employing apprentices. There is real scope for innovation in the apprenticeship landscape, which can result in genuinely life-changing opportunities for young people.”
