Ambitions 2017 supports thousands of learners with career and study options

Ambitions Plus, the largest Post 16 careers event in the region, was hosted at SGS College’s WISE Campus on March 8th 2017.

70 contributor stands from 30 industry sectors were on hand to present their routes into employment and training. Almost 1,500 A Level and Level 3 Vocational students from 18 sixth forms and colleges in South Gloucestershire and Bristol attended. Seven rolling presentation seminars from ‘What do employers need in their workforce’ to ‘Understanding Higher Apprenticeships’ gave students more understanding in navigating their futures.

The Chair of South Gloucestershire Council, Erica Williams, who spent the morning interacting with employers and students, said: “Ambitions is South Gloucestershire Council’s flagship event, providing a great opportunity for young people, equipping them with the essential skills and knowledge needed to compete for a job in the many cutting edge industries, which have a base in this area.”

Ralph Hawkins, Managing director of Taylor Wimpey Bristol commented: “It was a pleasure to be involved in the event and I know the Taylor Wimpey team were inspired by the young people they met. It was a privilege for us to be able to share our thoughts with tomorrow’s future.”
