SGS College | Be Outstanding

Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

We look forward to welcoming you to one of our campuses.

Travelling by car

SGS Stroud, Berkeley, WISE, and Filton have FREE student parking if you are a current student and have registered your car. Due to their city centre locations, SGS Clifton and Queens Road do not have a dedicated car park. For additional information, visit our car parking and e-permits page.

Travelling by bike

SGS encourages travel by bike; all our campuses are equipped with bike storage. Bristol was named the UK's first cycle city and is fortunate to have a large integrated cycling network. Use CycleStreets to plan your journey.

SGS campuses are located close to national and regional train stations. Use National Rail Enquiries to plan your journey.

SGS is pleased to have teamed up with First Bus to provide discounted termly travel in Bristol via their 'Tickets App', making it cheaper to get to College.

First buses stop just a short walk away from all campuses with 5 services to WISE, 8 services to Queens Road, 3 services to Filton, and service 8, which stops right outside the entrance to the Clifton Campus.

With the First Bus termly mTickets, not only do learners get travel to college, but the ticket allows unlimited travel at the evenings and weekends too!

Full details of pricing, downloading the App, routes etc. can be viewed at www.firstgroup.com/sgs

WESTlink
WESTlink is a new type of bus service that operates in the vast majority of the West of England, outside of Bristol and Bath city centres. It runs without a fixed timetable or route and is booked 'on demand' by users through the WESTlink app or by phone.

Passengers can get on or off at existing bus stops (over 1,800) as well as at a number of easy to reach places and then connect to major bus and rail services.

For further details on how to access this service, please visit travelwest.info

Stagecoach Stroud
SGS learners will need to buy either an Adult single ticket, which is currently capped at £2; or one of our U19 tickets - details can be found here: Young person tickets | Stagecoach (stagecoachbus.com).

Stagecoach no longer offers discounted ticket ranges for College learners.
