Students achieve level 2 football coaching award
Two talented students from SGS College Stroud Campus have passed their FA Level 2 Coaching Award.
Students, Sam Martin and Josh Loveridge were selected to complete the level 2 award due to their motivation and commitment to College football since joining.
With grant money from Sport England, the College was able to support Sam and Josh with the coaching course, equipping them with extra qualifications and experience that will aid their future careers. This is the first time SGS Stroud has sent students on a coaching course for their personal and professional development.
The course, which lasted six months, consisted of practical sessions, theory tests, numerous coaching hours and a final assessment.
Having recently completed the Level 3 sports course at college, Sam and Josh have decided to study at the University of Gloucestershire - Josh studying a degree in Sports Coaching and Sam studying Sports and Exercise Science.
Josh comments: “I think it’s brilliant that the College gave me the opportunity to further develop myself alongside my Level 3 diploma. Coaching is the career path I’d like to follow; this will help me achieve this.
Sam comments: “I am extremely grateful that the College has given me this opportunity. They identified something I love doing and gave me the means to pursue my passion further.”
