New course offered at school for adults
An exciting opportunity to gain a qualification as a Teaching Assistant will commence from March at The Forest High School, in Cinderford.
This brand new course is aimed at anyone aged over 18 wanting to become a qualified Teaching Assistant. Successful applicants will have a guaranteed placement of six hours a week at The Forest High School which can be undertaken by either two mornings or two afternoons a week.
Offered in conjunction with South Gloucestershire and Stroud College, the programme will allow participants the chance to gain experience in a school environment and achieve a qualification at the same time, both of which are invaluable to employers.
Debbie Douglas, Head of Management and Education at SGS comments: “This is a great course specifically designed for those wanting to become a teaching assistant. It is the first of its kind being offered in the Forest of Dean with a guaranteed placement for successful applicants, on their doorstep. On completion of the course potential opportunities will be available to progress onto level 3 with access to the 24+ loan.”
Associate Head Teacher at The Forest High School, Gareth Reynolds added: "I am really excited about offering adult learning at the school as it will provide an additional positive learning opportunity within our community. It also enables a pathway for our young people to be supported by aspiring teaching assistants."
An information evening is being held at The Forest High School on Wednesday 15th March from 5.30pm-7pm.
