Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2017

Tracey Kittlety is currently undertaking a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Business Administration at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College.

The 43 year old from Stoke Gifford, has been with the organisation for almost 8 months where she is learning new skills as an Apprenticeship Administrator. Before joining SGS Tracey worked as a School Meals Supervisory Assistant but felt that she wanted a new challenge and so decided to take the plunge and apply for an Apprenticeship.

Tracey commented: “I wanted to start an Apprenticeship to gain more experience in a new job whilst earning money and felt I could learn from the bottom upwards. Apprenticeships are mainly aimed at young people and so I was shocked to learn that it was an option for me. I was a little apprehensive about changing my career later on in life, especially with four children but it has been the best step for me and my confidence.

“My new job role includes enrolling AASE Apprentices onto the systems and setting up their courses to allow them to enrol onto their desired pathway.  I have also been dispatching previous students NVQ Certificates, so am enjoying seeing the process through from start to finish.

“The thing I enjoy most about the Apprenticeship and working for SGS, is being part of a team and learning a new skills set. After I have completed the course I hope to either find employment or carry on with learning and undertake the level 3.”
