High-street DIY store helps local college

A high-street DIY store is helping a local college by recycling old stock and donating unwanted items.

Homebase in Stroud have generously donated 110 rolls of wallpaper and 50 tins of paint to SGS College. Helping many students, the wall paper has gone to the art department to enable the students to make Christmas decorations and the paint has gone to the construction department for the painting and decorating learners.

Lesley Gaskell, Operations Team Manager at Homebase commented: “We’re delighted to support our local college and the community. It’s also a great way for us to recycle products. I’m sure it will be put to good use at SGS College.”

Head of Construction, Dave Quinton comments: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Lesley Gaskell and the Homebase team. The paint they have donated has gone to Filton Campus for use in the Decorating department.  This will enable students to undertake different types of assessments with different types of paint.  With budget constraints Homebase have ensured that the students continue to have different opportunities within their courses.”

“We look forward to working in partnership with Homebase going forward and forging further relationships around work experience/work placement where possible.”
