Student swimming success

SGS College student, Ros Cranham, has been crowned Bristol Schools Champion in the 50m backstroke, and runner up in the 50m butterfly.

Swimming for City of Bristol Swimming Club, Ros competed in the Bristol Schools Gala, Tuesday 17th March. Ros has competed in this competition for several years.

Ros, who has been swimming since she was eight years old, is also part of the TEAMS (Talented Elite Athlete Mentoring Scheme) Academy. Since joining last September Ros has completed a number of workshops to help her performance, such as applied psychology and performance nutrition.

The 17 year-old from Hengrove is currently in her first year at college studying the BTEC Level 3 in Sports and Exercise Science.

SGS Sports Academy Coordinator, Laura Kinchella comments: “I am so pleased for Ros doing so well at this competition, she works very hard at her sport as well as at college so this is well deserved. It can be tricky juggling academic studies along with high performance sport, but is doing a very good job.”

Ros comments: “I am proud of what I have achieved and of my performance. Being part of the TEAMS Academy has helped with different aspects and I have enjoyed the workshops that have been put on.”
