  • Passport to Independence – Independent Living and Employability

    This is a course for young people aged 18-24 with additional learning needs. Learners progress to this course within the department from other ACE courses. The main aim of the course is to develop self-confidence with the emphasis on independent living in order to prepare learners for leaving college. This course helps learners achieve a smooth transition from college to the next step in adult life, whether this be employment or independent living in the community.

  • Supported Internships

    Supported internships provide a structured study and employment programme for young people with learning difficulties or disabilities who would like to move into employment. Learners attend college for one day a week and work over three days with the support of a job coach at a range of employers. The aim of these internships is for the intern to gain paid work at the end of the internship and learners to gain invaluable skills and support in the workplace whilst they are on the programme.

  • FLEX

    This course is designed for 16 to 18 year old students who have experienced barriers to learning for a wide variety of reasons. Students are not usually in education, employment or training before they join us. The main focus of this course is for students to develop self-confidence and self-esteem, gain qualifications and move onto employment vocational courses at either level 1 or Level 2.

    This broad programme is a perfect introduction to the construction industry. If learners are unsure what trade they would like to specialise in then this course provides training in all the main construction trades, including plastering, painting and decorating, carpentry, brickwork and plumbing.
