What will I study?

You have the opportunity to explore a range of different disciplines, this enables you to explore the scope of creative art and design education and to build practical and creative skills to develop your own creative tool kit.

The core of the course is based on drawing and contextual studies. Diagnostic periods of study are allocated to painting, 3D work, textile design, printmaking, 3D, ceramics, graphics, illustration and photography. One-to-one and group tutorials will help you to coordinate and organise your work. An important part of the tutorials is to assemble a portfolio of your work, including sketchbooks, notebooks and other evidence of study or creative activity, all of which could be submitted as part of an application for a Higher Education Art & Design course or for employment or to support an application to an exhibition.

Maths and English

We offer core modules in Maths and English.

Work experience

Live projects and work experience are integral to the course. You will be encouraged to seek work experience to develop your CV by including a range of exciting elements. The relationship between staff and students is respectful and supportive. How will I know how I am doing?

The course is validated and moderated by APT Awards on behalf of the nationally recognised Access course scheme. Your final assessment is based on an ongoing assessment of all coursework units, and a final exhibition of your work.
