Level 3 Diploma/Extended Musical Theatre
Full time course
This highly popular and exciting course will build skills and knowledge in all aspects of the performing arts industry. Learners will develop their musical theatre skills in singing, dancing and acting through a range of performance-based projects accompanied by demonstrations and guidance from the industry experienced tutors.
What will I study?
This course will include:
Collaborative Performance Projects
You will also perform in at least three productions each year including a final production in one of our theatres.
In the first year students will study for the Level 3 Diploma. Successful students then progress into the second year to complete the Extended Diploma.
Maths & English
A key requirement to obtaining many jobs means achieving a good standard of English and Maths, therefore learners that do not yet have a GCSE grade 4 (grade C) will be enrolled on either GCSE or Functional Skills programmes alongside their course.
The performing arts and leisure industry is one of the few areas in the job market which has sustained levels of employment and shown areas of growth in the present economic climate.
There are work placement opportunities on the course and students participate in productions in our two professional standard theatres.
What do I need to join?
Four GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above, including English Language. Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting or Dance) at merit level.

How will I learn?
Through a range of performance-based projects accompanied by demonstrations and guidance from your tutor.
How will I know how I am doing?
Your tutors will closely monitor and guide you through the course to ensure you reach your potential. You will have personal one-to-one tutorials to review progress regularly.
Are there any extra costs?
There is a materials fee payable, which will go towards the cost of costume, masterclasses and venue hire. You will need to purchase specialist dance equipment (tap, jazz, ballet shoes and dancewear as required).
What can I do next?
You will be prepared for higher education courses at drama schools, universities or our own Degree in Musical Theatre taught at the WISE Campus
What are my career options?
Learners can progress on to higher level courses, which could lead in to careers in professional theatre, cabaret and teaching.
