Full time course
This broad programme is the perfect introduction for learners considering a career in the performing arts industry. You will develop performing arts skills whilst gaining self confidence in a positive and vibrant environment that feels very different from school. Throughout the course, you will have opportunities to perform to the public.
What will I study?
You will develop performing arts skills whilst gaining self confidence in a positive and vibrant environment that feels very different from school. Throughout the course, you will have opportunities to perform to the public.This course will cover a broad range of performing arts subjects, including drama, dance, musical theatre and stagecraft.
Maths & English
A key requirement to obtaining many jobs is achieving a good standard of English and Maths. Therefore, learners who do not yet have a GCSE will be enrolled on either GCSE or Functional Skills programmes alongside their main course.
The performing arts and leisure industry is one of the few areas in the jobs market that has sustained levels of employment and even shown areas of growth in the present economic climate.
There are no specific opportunities at this level but also learners participate in our two professional standard theatre productions.

No qualifications are necessary for this course, but enthusiasm is a must!

How will I learn?
This course is largely practical, although learners will also be required to produce some written research and assignments. Learners also benefit from participating in two professional standard theatre productions.
How will I know how I am doing?
Your tutors will closely monitor and guide you through the course to ensure you are reaching your potential.You will have personal one-to-one tutorials to review progress regularly.

There may be costs to cover materials fees.
What can I do next?
Learners who successfully complete the qualification, and all other elements of their study programme, may progress to Level 2 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts or another Level 2 qualification at SGS.
What are my career options?
Learners can progress on to higher level courses, which could lead to careers in theatre, film, video and TV production as well as career opportunities in other areas of employment.
