Level 2 Bricklaying
Full time course
This course is ideal for 16-18 year olds who have already completed a Diploma Level 1 in bricklaying or those with prior experience. Key modules will include safe working practices, information, quantities and communicating, building methods and construction technology, setting out, thin joint masonry, solid walling, isolated and attached piers and cavity walling

Maths and English
Learners who have not who have not achieved grade 4 (grade C) or above in Maths and English will be given additional support to improve these skills.
All courses include opportunities for learners to experience working in a construction environment– this may be with employers, a community project or a project within the college campus. This gives learners the opportunity to develop their skills in their chosen trade and will assist with progression choices.
In conjunction with obtaining a trade qualification and practical experience, learners will also develop other skills, such as interview techniques and CV preparation, to prepare them for the world of work.
What do I need to join?
You will have four GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above, including English and maths. Ideally, candidates will have completed the Level 1 Diploma or can demonstrate knowledge of the trade and complete a skills assessment..
How long is the course?
1 year, with attendance required of 2.5 days a week, which includes Maths, English, enrichment, work experience and tutorial days, to further support you in your chosen career within the industry.
How will I learn?
Practical experience will be gained in the workshop, through practical activities. Underpinning knowledge will be delivered in the classroom and IT suite, where study will be interactive and informative.
How will I know how I am doing?
Targets will be set and agreed with your tutor; you will receive regular feedback and one-to-one reviews to ensure that you are on track to achieve your goals. Your practical work will also be assessed by your tutor and your portfolio will be assessed by our internal verification team. Parents can also monitor progress through the Pro Monitor portal.

What can I do next?
After successful completion, you can progress to a Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying. Alternatively, entry to an apprenticeship can be gained if suitable employment is found.
What are my career options?
There are many different specialist roles within the industry. Employers will be looking for a minimum of level 2 NVQ or an apprenticeship at an equivalent level. This course provides an excellent foundation upon which to build a career within the construction industry.
