Level 3 Beauty Therapy
Full time course
This popular course is designed for both men and women who wish to pursue a career in the beauty sector. You need to have already achieved a level 2 in Beauty Therapy and will develop the existing technical skills and knowledge learnt at level 2 to an advanced level, along with advanced facial and massage techniques.
What will I study?
Modules covered may include face and body electricals, body massage, micro dermabrasion, anatomy and physiology and epilation.
Maths and English:
A key requirement to obtaining many jobs means achieving a good standard of English and Maths, therefore learners that do not yet have a GCSE grade C will be enrolled on either GCSE or Functional Skills programmes alongside their course.
At an extra cost and your tutor's discretion, there may be opportunities to increase your skills by opportunities throughout your programme.
To gain the industrial experience for employment you will be expected to have a work placement for specific hours throughout the course. Your tutor will discuss this with you in more detail.
The skills gained from this course will enable you to work in a spa, beauty salon, cruise ships or even start up your own business.
What do I need to join?
You will have three GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English, and will have successfully completed Level 2 Beauty Therapy. Alongside this, learners must be able to demonstrate excellent manual dexterity and communication skills.
How long is the course?
1 year, attending college. approximately 3 days per week includes at least 1 late evening.
How will I learn?
You will have a mixture of practical sessions in the salon and classroom based lessons teaching underpinning knowledge. You will be expected to perform demonstrations on models, other students and, once you are at a specific standard and ability, paying clients of the salon. You will also have the opportunity to go on residential trips visiting specialised shows and establishments.
How will I know how I am doing?
You will be assessed through observation of practical assessments, assignments and written examinations. You will also work with members of the general public who visit our salons and often provide feedback about their treatments. Regular reviews with your tutor will provide you with feedback on your progress.
Are there any extra costs?
Material Fees will be due at enrolment. There will be extra costs for uniform, kit and optional trips. As previously mentioned, there may be costs for any additional courses you choose to do.
What can I do next?
Learners who successfully complete the qualification can gain employment in the industry, such as working in a spa, beauty salon, on cruise ships, or by starting your own business.
