Life Drawing with Penny Simons
Part time course
A six-week course of drawing the body
The course will encourage you to use a variety of mark-making materials to interpret the form in front of you. Both wet and dry media will be provided (charcoal, pencil, ink) and there will be opportunity to develop your work into enamel and mono print.
Life drawing has, at its core, the art of looking. You will then be encouraged to use a variety of materials to 'translate' what you see.
This approach can be experimental (moving figures - the body sitting, standing, leaning, jumping - to create dynamic poses). It can also be quieter and more considered, concentrating on measuring and estimating the figure in space.
Each session will consist of short 'warm-ups' to set the tone and raise the energy levels, followed by a longer, more concentrated second part.
This allows both complete beginners, those who have always been intrigued by the idea of life-drawing, and more experienced artists to develop their skills.
What do I need to bring to my first class?
Basic materials will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own in addition
