Level 3 Travel and Tourism
Full time course
Are you a people person who thrives when engaging with customers and colleagues? Do you hope to experience new countries and cultures that you have never experienced before? This course offers you the unique opportunity to engage with the real world of travel and tourism through work experience, by hearing from guest speakers from industry and by taking advantage of our links with employers. The course requires you to be enthusiastic and dedicated to the air industry with a clear progression route into the travel and tourism.
What will I study?
This is a flexible course in which you can opt to study either a one year 90 Credit Diploma equivalent to 1.5 A Levels or the two year Extended Diploma (which is equivalent to 3 A Levels). The list below contains a snapshot of the core and additional units you will study:
Investigating the travel and tourism industry
Long-haul travel destinations
Business travel operations.
You will also complete a residential study visit to a European destination or an internship in Seville, Spain.
Maths and English
A key requirement to obtaining many jobs is achieving a good standard of English and Maths. Therefore, learners that do not yet have a GCSE grade C will be enrolled on either GCSE or Functional Skills programmes alongside their main course.
All students will take part in a week's work experience in a travel and tourism related organisation. We encourage and provide support to those who wish to gain experience in the world of travel and tourism and can offer contacts to assist you with arranging this.
Second year students will have the opportunity to take part in a six week internship programme in Seville, currently fully funded by the European Union.
You will have the opportunity to complete additional qualifications that will increase your Functional Skills and work experience.
All students are guaranteed an interview with a national hotel chain on completion of their course.
What do I need to join?
You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English and maths.
How long is the course?

You will learn through a mixture of classroom activities, practical exercises, real experience and educational visits.
How will I know how I am doing?
You will receive continuous reviews, along with full and regular feedback from your tutor, to ensure you are on track and ready for your next step. Feedback will be verbal, written or electronic and is designed to support you on your course and help you achieve the results that you need.
Are there any extra costs
There is a materials fee to pay (this can be paid in instalments and is non-refundable) and there may be additional costs for trips.
What can I do next?
Learners can progress into a university level course, an apprenticeship or move directly into employment.
What are my career options?
The variety of units studied during this qualification can be applied to any chosen career and will open many doors. The practical experience you gain will prepare and equip you for work and life.
