Part time course
This qualification (awarded by NCFE) aims to introduce learners to the use of helping/counselling skills in everyday life and work. It would benefit those who wish to progress towards counselling qualifications, or learners who wish to study this programme in order to complement other programmes (e.g. health and social care; children’s care, learning and development; voluntary and community work).
A further aim is to heighten and extend personal awareness and development.How will I know how I am doing?
Successful completion of the course will be based upon:
• 80% attendance
• an internally assessed portfolio of evidence including:
• A project
• A Journal
• Tutor/peer assessed skills practice
Is previous experience necessary?
The minimum entry age is 18 years. Candidates will need to have either the Introduction to Counselling course, or similar award in terms of length i.e. at least 18 hours, or Certified practical experience of using counselling skills (e.g. with a voluntary agency) over at least 30 hours.
