The BA (Hons) Specialist Make-up Design is a one year programme aimed at providing a route to an honours degree for students that have completed a Foundation Degree, or equivalent, in Specialist Make-up Design or a closely-related subject.
The course is designed to encourage the development of advanced level professional skills and will prepare learners for working within the Fashion, Television, Film & Theatre industries, as Make-up & Hair Artists. The term Specialist Media Make-up encompasses elements of the industry using film and theatre techniques, along with special effects make up, such as prosthetics.
This 1 year Level 6 top-up course will include the following modules:-
Specialist Make-up and Hair Design
Contemporary Professional Practice
Dissertation/Major Research Project
Conceptual Make-up Design
Students will be assessed by a variety of methods on their practical skills and coursework. These will include portfolios and presentation of practical design work including ideas books/learning journals; research files; reflective blogs; formal presentations of investigative outcomes; written reports and assignments; evaluative statements and critical writing.
Students should have gained 240 credits from a Foundation Degree or HND in Make-up or a very closely related subject area. Applicants will be expected to have English Language and Maths GCSEs at grade C or above, or equivalent.
