The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is Europe's largest HR and development professional body. It is an internationally recognised brand with over 135,000 members across 120 countries. Over 13,000 students join the CIPD programmes each year to enhance their knowledge on the latest theory, case studies and insights into best practice HR.
What will I learn?
The new Diploma in HR Practice provides a firm foundation in all the areas of HR, as well as an understanding of HR in a business context. It will help you develop practical, essential HR skills and above all, will give you the confidence to be more effective at work and add value to your HR function. It will provide candidates with the following knowledge:
A sound understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviour required of a professional HR practitioner, whether their role is generalist in nature or specialist, for example resourcing.
An understanding of how HR activities support an organisation's strategy and assist the achievement of business objectives and how these are shaped by internal and external factors.
The ability to analyse HR information and present findings to inform decision-making.
Completion of the DHRP provides the knowledge required for assessment for the new Associate professional level of CIPD membership. If you are able to demonstrate your certificate knowledge in the workplace through membership assessment (assessing workplace activities and behaviours), you will be awarded the new Associate professional level of membership with designatory letters.
How will I learn?
The Diploma is a foundation level qualification which is designed to reflect the CIPD HR Profession Map and the new professional membership criteria. You will learn through a combination of taught sessions, activities based on case studies and via private study.
Assessment is through assignment work.
The Diploma is made up of the following nine modules.
Developing yourself as an effective HR or L&D practitioner
Understanding organisations and the role of HR
Recording, analysing and using HR information
Supporting good practice in managing employment relations
Supporting good practice in performance and reward management
Support change within organisations
Undertaking a learning needs analysis
Developing Mentoring Skills for the workplace
What are the entry requirements?
The Diploma is ideal for candidates if:
You are new to HR
You are interested in a move into HR.
You are working in HR in a support role and wish to develop their knowledge and skills.
You're a line manager who is involved in HR and those who have responsibility for HR activities and decisions within an organisation without a specialist function.
You work in HR, but do not have sufficient qualifications to undertake CIPD intermediate- or advance-level qualifications.
What else do I need to know?
You will need to join the CIPD as a student member, full details will be provided on your induction. The fee for subscription paid direct to the CIPD is currently £165.00
What can I do next?
Level 5 Diploma in Human Resource Practice and/or work towards Chartered membership of the Institute of Personnel & Development.
Payment plans are available for course fees over £150; 3 month instalment plans are available for courses which run for 6 months or more and 6 month direct debit payment plans are available for courses which run for 9 months or more there will be a one off charge of £15.00 for these facilities.
